Reshaping the Finnish Audio Landscape
Finland’s largest single music-export genre is metal
Neural DSP has become one of the most impactful companies in modern music technology. The Quad Cortex has been the best-selling product in the “guitar” category since it launched in 2021. That fact alone tells you how far their work reaches and how strongly it resonates with musicians.
What makes Neural DSP distinct is how seamlessly they combine brand-level thinking with tactical communication. Everything they do carries the same clarity, emotional weight, and intent. A product feature, a launch film, a patch note, or a community reply all feel like they come from the same place. Nothing is treated as “just tactical.” It is all brand.
The company is Finnish, with a culture shaped by musicians. Around 95 percent of the team play music, and even those who do not still operate inside the same creative world. This creates a shared language and a very natural understanding of the audience. Communication is direct, decisions are grounded in actual experience, and the products reflect that.
The community around Neural DSP has grown far beyond what anyone expected. It began with metal guitarists, who were early adopters and deeply engaged with gear and technology. Over time, the audience expanded to include older musicians, visually impaired players, hobbyists, working professionals, and people just starting out. The accessibility of the Quad Cortex, with its touchscreen and rotary footswitches, opened the door to a wider group of players.
AI plays a central role in Neural DSP’s tools, but not in the way most people imagine. Instead of chatbots or automation, they use machine learning and neural networks to capture the behaviour of analog devices (like amplifiers) at a level of detail that would be impossible manually. They built a robot that adjusts amp controls while sending audio through and recording thousands of variations. The aim is not to replace creativity. It is to expand the range of what creators can do.
Their approach to marketing follows the same philosophy. It is built around storytelling, clarity, and empathy. Technical specifications matter, but they are never the point. The focus is on how the product makes someone feel or what it unlocks creatively. Content is created in-house or with trusted partners, and the company maintains open channels for feedback and feature requests. Development cycles can be long, but the commitment to listening is real.
The Quadcortex has been the the most sold product in its category since 2024. This film kicked off our collaboration with the company.
Neural DSP’s tone with its community is intentionally human. If someone writes with unnecessary aggression, the reply may be equally sharp. It is honest and sometimes surprising, but it reinforces that real people stand behind the work.
Finland has been an ideal base for the company. The engineering talent is exceptional, the design sensibility is high, and the local music culture provides a strong foundation. Even the long winters contribute to focus and momentum.
Neural DSP is no longer a startup. With more than seven years behind them and over 150 employees, they operate with the maturity of a scale-up while keeping the creative drive of a young company. They are not chasing outside capital. They are focused on sustainable growth and building the best creative tools available to any musician.
Neural DSP has managed to democratize elite audio tools without losing their identity. Every detail carries the same level of intention and care, from the technology itself to the way they speak to their audience.
The Nanocortex film was our second production for the brand.
