Radical Creatives

Creativity beyond the creative industry
Radical Creatives is a documentary film we produced for Aalto University.
It explores the space between radical creativity and incremental creativity and what happens when ideas move beyond improving what already exists to reshaping the fabric of reality itself.
Radical creativity can be applied to any field, any industry, any part of society. It shifts how we see, think, and act.
Aalto University has made Radical Creativity one of the main pillars of its curriculum. The film brings that vision to life.
Well, this is a caption for the gallery
Directed by Emilia Hernesniemi, shot by cinematographer Iiris Sjöblad, and co-produced by executive producers Kimmo Syväri and Milla Kokko, with Ilona Malinen and Nita Rehtonen as producers, the film has already reached over 15,000 organic views.
That’s a remarkable number for a Finnish documentary alone.
But Radical Creatives is also a piece of brand communication for the university.
Where most advertising needs to be short and easily digestible: a few seconds on TV or as a YouTube pre-roll, this piece is something else entirely.
It’s a full-length, one-hour film screened in cinemas.
And people choose to spend that time watching it.
That says something powerful: when you create with care and intention, people respond.
Aalto University’s decision to lead and own the concept of radical creativity through this film stands as a clear example of what happens when communication is treated as craft, not noise.
Radical Creativity can be studied at aalto as a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). The link to the course is here

The course uses material of the film as a learning material in the course.
If you like to book a screening of the film, you can reach out to the university or come and watch it here at Ääri, on Pursimiehenkatu in Helsinki.
Thank you again, Aalto University, for the opportunity to take part in a production that shows how thoughtful storytelling and genuine commitment can reshape how we see the world.
